Business Consultant

The Regional Business Consultant is a member of the Business Services Team whose primary objective is to improve employers’ access to qualified workers and to increase employer awareness of available resources for the Northern Indiana Workforce Board. The Business Services Consultant will initiate employer engagement and provide services to support placement into employment. The Business Services Consultant will gather business intelligence and assist in the development of a Regional Economic/Workforce development partnership by developing relationships with the Local Economic Development Organizations. The Business Services Team conducts needs assessments, creates custom service strategy proposals, hosts hiring events, convenes regional talent ecosystem partners, and is managed by the NIWB V.P. of Operations.

JOB DUTIES
• Manage strong employer relationships using professional communication and develop a personal relationship with the major contributors to the regional economy.
• Utilize customer relationship management (CRM) and (ICC) data entry, recruitment processes, account management, and customer service to employers accessing the job order management system and providing reports and data analysis requested.
• Understand and interpret the intent and ensure strict adherence to federal/state/regional policy, guidance, and memos.
• Assist in the design, implementation, management, and monitoring of special projects to successful completion
• Participate in Job Fairs, Career Fairs, and other opportunities for both employers and applicants to exchange information about jobs.
• Serve as part of the Rapid Response Team efforts, reporting all closures, and facilitating early aversion opportunities when possible.
• Act as the liaison between WorkOne staff and employers through the One-Stop Operator as needed in the placement of youth, veterans, and other special populations for internships, work experience (WEX) On Job Training (OJT), or direct hires.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with all managers, internal staff, area employers, industry partners, Board leadership members, Fiscal team, community-based entity, training providers, and the general public to encourage customer engagement that is employer focused and that leads to long-term employment for WorkOne customers.
• Be industry-focused and fluent in industry-specific information and standards

• Conducts in-person and virtual meetings with regional employers and community stakeholders weekly to maintain quality relationships
• Attend and participate in statewide Business Consultant meetings, training, and other events
• Demonstrates experience in solving practical problems using a variety of variables solving these problems
• Compiles complete, accurate business profiles by business analysis and recording activities in workplace data systems
• Must be able to synthesize complex/diverse confidential information by collecting and researching data, using intuition and experience to complement data
• Exceptional technology skills with an emphasis on database management and reporting within internal systems
• Experience in evaluating, establishing, and achieving performance goals
• Writes clearly and informatively, edits work for spelling and grammar, varies writing style and tone to meet needs, presents numerical data effectively, able to read and interpret written information.
• Understands business implications of decisions, demonstrates knowledge of market and competition, and aligns work with strategic goals.
• May perform related tasks mutually agreed upon, undertake self-development activities, take independent actions and calculated risks, look for and take advantage of opportunities, and ask for and offer help when needed.
• Collaboration with Hoosier Initiative Re-entry and perform outreach activities for the Workforce Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) and bonding programs with the intent to raise awareness and participation in the programs.
