Kosciusko Connect LLC is a growing broadband service provider and is a subsidiary of Kosciusko REMC. We are building a state-of-the-art fiber network to bring high-speed internet to rural Kosciusko County. We offer residential and business internet, VoIP, Ethernet, and dedicated services. Job Summary

The Network Engineer will be responsible for the daily operation of the network, working with vendors, customers, and internal staff to ensure the network is running optimally. The individual will need to have the ability to learn our network from the ground up. Gain insights and knowledge with our carrier-grade network in a short amount of time and embrace working together as a small team to build the future. You will also assist with the network management for the corporate LAN of Kosciusko REMC.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

• Responsible for the design and implementation of network architecture

• Work with the VP of Technology and Broadband to facilitate the design, development, and deployment of new product offerings

• Analyzes and monitors the network for malicious activity and investigates high traffic volume users to identify abuse of service/Acceptable Use Policy

• Responsible for monitoring and management of our dedicated circuits

• One of your first jobs will be to upgrade the capacity of our existing dedicated circuits from our two providers.

• Document processes and procedures

• Supports the corporate network needs for Kosciusko REMC, such as routing, switching, internet gateways, and firewalls.

• Support customers and end users as necessary

Knowledge

• Technical knowledge should include but is not limited to TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, LAN, WAN, WLAN, VLAN, APN, VPN, VoIP, Ethernet, remote gateways, routing protocols, the OSI model, dedicated internet connections, fiber, and copper cabling. Knowledge of provisioning methodologies, computer system integrations, and cooperative utility software is a benefit.

• Experience with Calix is preferred but not necessary.

Skills

• Must possess the ability to learn new systems and architectures quickly to support customers and employees. Excellent written/verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and work as a team player. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks under strict and varying deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated problem-solving abilities.

Education

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science is required. While possessing the stated degree is preferred, we’ll also consider applications who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience. Professional certifications such as Cisco, Juniper, or CompTIA Network+ are a plus.

Requirements

• You must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

• You must have a valid driver’s license and reside within a 60-minute commute to the Kosciusko REMC/Connect headquarters in Warsaw, Indiana.
