Nextremity Solutions celebrates grand opening and ribbon cutting event in Warsaw Technology Park

Thursday, July 29, 2021

WARSAW, Ind. (July 29, 2021) – The Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO) congratulates local orthopedic company, Nextremity Solutions Inc. (Nextremity), on its grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting which took place last Friday, July 23.

“This is such an exciting time for our team at Nextremity Solutions as we expand our capabilities to create, manufacture and deliver innovative solutions to our strategic alliance partners and to other orthopedic companies,” said Nextremity Solutions President and CEO Rod K. Mayer in an earlier press release announcing the development project.

Founded in 2007, Nextremity is a privately held company that focuses on musculoskeletal product development for extremities. Originally, the company designed, manufactured and distributed its technology through its own distribution network. Then in 2016, the company shifted its focused and announced its i3® Strategic Solutions strategy that focused efforts on product development and micro-commercialization of innovative technologies.

The company has continued to evolve, and in March of 2020 Nextremity announced the acquisition of Lakeland Technology Inc. (Lakeland), an ISO 13485 certified contract manufacturer for the medical device industry known for its ability to build complex assemblies. Lakeland offers a wide range of services including design for manufacturability, precision machining, finishing, inspection, and packaging of instruments, prototypes and custom instruments.

After making the decision to consolidate into one building, Nextremity partnered with West Hill Development to complete what was a shell building in the Warsaw Technology Park, and is now the new home to Nextremity and nearly 100 employees. With this new development and more capabilities, Nextremity plans to hire 111 new employees by 2024.

Warsaw Technology Park is a 100+ acre development located adjacent to US Highway 30 developed through a partnership between the City of Warsaw and West Hill Development. The park has been designated a “Certified Technology Park” by the Indiana Economic Development COrporation.

“We are excited to join our economic development partners including the City of Warsaw and the IEDC to celebrate the success of a ‘locally owned, locally grown’ business like Nextremity,” said KEDCO CEO Alan Tio, “Our role is to work with companies at every stage of business and we look forward to supporting the Nextremity team in the years ahead.”

The grand opening event on Friday, July 23 consisted of tours of the new facility provided by Nextremity team members, followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony and presentation where Nextremity leaders reflected on how far the company has come, and the bright future ahead.

“We worked as a team and that’s what innovation is all about,” said Nextremity Co-Founder and Director Lon. S Weiner, MD.

Unity and teamwork were repeated themes as each speaker reflected on the company’s story, and shared excitement for the many opportunities ahead.

“I love the phrase begin with the end in mind, and today brings us to a new crossroad but this is not where the journey is going to end, I am quite confident,” said Mayer. “We’re going to continue to see

accelerated growth as we remain passionately committed to our mission and to our values and remain passionately committed to serve surgeons who serve patients around the world.”

Additional guests who shared remarks were Stuart D. Katchis, MD, Nextremity Co-Founder and Director; Warsaw Mayor, Joe Thallemer; Craig Snow, Indiana State Representative, District 18; Jim Staton, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer, Indiana Economic Development Corporation; and Mary Martin, Regional Director for the Office of Senator Mike Braun.
