Big Ideas

“Opportunity is everywhere. The key is to develop the vision to see it.” – Anonymous

I was fortunate to attend the Economix 2019 event last week thanks to sponsorship from Wabash Valley Power Association. The event brings together economic development leaders and site consultants from across the country to “mix things up” over a fast-paced 24-hours.

The event features presentations from leading authors and speakers, as well as panel discussions from economic development thought leaders. Over the next few weeks, I am going to share a few “big ideas” that I took from the event.

Jess Ekstrom, founder of Headbands of Hope and author of Chasing the Bright Side, comes the first big idea, that optimism is belief in what the future can do, and that the future is good.

Ekstrom used the example of the Sagrada Familia church in Barcelona, Spain to illustrate her perspective on optimism: construction on the church began in 1882 and is still not complete.

So what are you optimistic about for 2020? Or what do you believe the future can do that is good and (like the basilica) perhaps not possible today?
