Find something to do

Tuesday, July 28, 2020

“Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.” – John Maxwell

Too often I find myself saying to one or more of our kids “go find something to do.” As adults, we are hardwired for busy-ness, and this response is likely an example of my bias towards activity, which of course comes at the expense of white space, or “looking out the window” time.

These days it’s doubtful any of us need more to do, but I want to challenge each of us to find something different to do every now and then as a change of pace. Here are a few ideas of upcoming meetings and events we have come across that might fit the bill.

NIIIC SBIR/STTR educational webinars

As part of a SBA FAST-IN grant, the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center is delivering a series of SBIR/STTR educational webinars. The first webinar in the session is Tuesday, July 28 (TODAY) at 2:00pm-3:30pm and offers an opportunity for plenty of feedback and questions from potential SBIR/STTR companies. More information and registration at the link HERE.

gALPHA Industry 4.0

Nationally-ranked startup accelerator gener8tor is launching its gALPHA program in Northeast Indiana, with a focus on IUndsutry 4.0. Applications are now being accepted and the program will kickoff Monday, August 10. This is an ideation program, so it can be someone who doesn’t even have an idea or a startup yet! In addition, volunteers from 3-4 established companies are needed to do a 20-30 min Reverse Pitch during Kickoff to give participants industry insight as well as potentially propose challenges they would like to see solved. More information and application materials at the link HERE.

GLTAAC Trade Adjustment Assistance Fund

GLTAAC has been helping import-impacted manufacturers for 36 years via the federal TAAF program. Our clients receive up to $75,000 in federal matching funds to implement projects they deem critical to their success. GLTAAC works with small and mid-sized firms in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. See more about the kinds of projects GLTAAC funds on our website.

Purdue MEP Defense Cybersecurity Assurance Program

The Defense Cybersecurity Assurance Program (DCAP) supports defense contractors across the supply chain by offering expert cybersecurity training, consulting services and technical assistance. An upcoming seminar on Tuesday, August 4 in Fort Wayne includes informational sessions that describe DoD cyber contracting regulations and requirements, resources, and practical tools that your business can use to meet the requirements. More information and registration at the link HERE.

Of course, let’s also make sure to allow some white space to enjoy time with family and friends, and to take in the beautiful outdoor amenities in our community. Call our team at KEDCO if we can help you navigate any business issues or opportunities that are keeping you from doing so!
